Chapatis on Thursday

On Thursday, Anandita's Mum, Divya and Anandita's Grandma, who has just arrived from India, came to make chapatis with us. A Chapati is a thin pancake of unleavened wholemeal bread cooked on a griddle or hotplate. It is a staple food in India.
The children had to roll them out with a rolling pin - then they were cooked. Chapati's are delicious with jam spread on them!

Maths in Jellyfish Cove

Fractions in Room 6

The children have been using our Maths equipment to talk about equal sharing.
1/4 means - one piece out of 4
1/4 of these pegs are red, 1/4 are white, 1/4 are green and 1/4 are black. 1/4 of 100 is 25!

1/2 means  one piece out of 2

Lily equal sharing - 1/3 of 12 = 4

Davish and Cameron have been subtracting 100's

Check out this great Maths with Millie

The Journey

The Journey

The children are really proud of their efforts in the production. Despite their nervous feelings they performed every night with confidence and nailed their dance. They loved seeing the joy their dancing brought to the audience. Thank you to all the Mums and Dads who supported us in the lead up and helped out on the nights. It was a real team effort!

Some reflections from the children -

Anandita - I heard the cheering audience, clapping and tinkling bells, singing and chattering.
Elsie - I felt nervous because everyone was staring at us. The best part of it was when everybody smiled. It made me feel good inside.
Katie - I wondered what the stage was made of. I wondered if anybody would muck it up.

Liam - I felt a little bit nervous about dancing in front of all the people.
Jonathan - I wondered if my Mum and Dad heard me. My favourite bit was when I got off the stage because I was tired.

I

Kupa - I felt nervous a little bit. I was hot really hot. I liked it. It was awesome. It was the dancing that was fun. Everyone was clapping.
Cameron - I heard wild clapping and the tardis was making mysterious sounds. The bells were tinkling on the girls’ costumes.

I felt amazed with myself at the end. I felt nervous at the start. At the middle, I was OK. - Eli

Mikeila - At the start, I was quite nervous because this is my first time performing this. At the end, I felt proud and happy.

I wondered if I will ever do this again. Would I get mixed up on stage – but No!

Davish - I heard parents saying “Wahoo!” I heard the D.J. and the Tarids making sounds. I heard bells tinkling, singing, music, parents cheering at us and Ms McArthur greeting people.

Levi - I felt worried about the production.

I felt worried and scared, brave of myself, nervous and confident. - Hunter

Noah - I felt nervous because I always feel nervous when I’m in front of something and there’s lots of people.

Lucy - I felt nervous at home. I felt excited every night. I felt really proud of myself. I felt like I wanted to do it.

I wondered if they liked it. I wondered if I made mistakes.

Hannah - I wondered if people were excited too. My favourite bit was the whole thing because a lot of people were clapping at us.

Brooke - I felt nervous and afraid and good for trying. I felt shy but I did it and I feel good since I tried and now I feel good.

I wondered if everyone liked it. I hope they did cos I put a lot of effort into the dance.

Monique -  I heard the people clapping when we came off the stage, by our big buddies.  I wondered if I would fall off the stage.

Jackson - I saw a D.J. I saw my sister and my Dad. I  saw aliens running across the stage. I saw Ms McArthur greeting people.
Sasha -  I heard clapping and cheering. I heard the girls’ bells

Josiah -I felt the ground shaking when we were doing our moves.

I wondered why there were so many bugs around?

Millie -  I heard clapping and cheering. I heard music. I heard tinkles from the girl’s costumes. I heard the tardis going beep beep beep.

Lily - I heard clapping, singing, chattering, tinkling bells from the girls’ and my Mum saying “good job” and “well done” when we were finished.
